Penan Women Project & Poppies Lookbook

Poppies is a one-stop-shop for all things for babies, mummies-to-be, mums and toddlers. Three years ago, we decided to start a Corporate Social Responsibility project for Poppies. We wanted to help the women and children in our community. We decided that the Penan Women Project was a perfect fit and that is how our initiative known as the Penan Women Project x Poppies was born.

Poppies’ role in this initiative is to identify new products and new markets and provide, through our retail connections, a wide and varied platform to sell the PWP x Poppies products. Our range now includes totes of all shapes, colors and sizes, clutches, storage baskets, clothing hampers, floor mats, gift hampers, table mats, lamp shades and much much more. Our latest initiative, The South China Sea, aims to promote Penan weaving in the hotel, resort and restaurant industries.

The proceeds from the sale of these indigenous handcrafted products are channeled back to the Penan community. Other than providing a regular income for 50-60 weavers, we also work on specific projects to provide education, materials, generators, clean water supply and medical care when funds allow.
